The 2016 Hooked Hong Kong Nines will feature eight teams, a 100% increase on 2015, following the formation of the TST Renegades.
The Renegades, a late entry to the competition, will represent Tsim Sha Tsui (TST), an urban area located in Southern Kowloon, and encompassing the Kowloon Peninsula.
A Barbarians style team, the Renegades will come into the 2016 Hooked Hong Kong Nines as an unknown entity, formed to cater for the significant interest the second annual Nines tournament has received in the Hong Kong region.
The Renegades will join the Causeway Bay Victorious Secrets, the Hong Kong Hunters, Wai Chan Warriors, South Pacific All Stars (Lantau Island), Sheung Wan Wild Boars, Coastal Cobras and defending champions the Mong Kok Creepers in the largest Rugby League event held in Hong Kong yet.
The 2016 Hooked Hong Kong Nines and HKTag Challenge will take place at King’s Park in Kowloon on Monday, May 2.
